RocAcupuncture is hosting Jean Giblette from High Falls Gardens for Two 3-hour workshops on Saturday March 19th, 2016.These courses are designed to be taken separately or together, are open to professionals or the general public, and will supply ceu's if requested. While designed for Oriental Medicine professionals, the courses will be of interest to anyone taking herbs, growing herbs, or simply concerned about herb identification, quality, and sourcing.

 Morning Workshop 9-noon
ASIAN MEDICINAL PLANT ECOLOGY, CULTIVATION AND CONSERVATION

-How to assess the quality of a medicinal plant

-How a plants growing conditions affects its nutritive properties and therapeutic value

-Learn about the terms ecological, organic and sustainable as they pertain to medicinal plants and why they are important to know

-Know the right questions to ask when purchasing herbs from America or China for the good of your patients

-Find out how you can help current trends to increase options for domestic and local sourcing of herbs

 

Afternoon Workshop 1-4pm
FAMILY PATTERNS IN SEEDS: A SEED GERMINATION WORKSHOP
(Max. 30 Participants)

In this horticulture workshop we will cover the following:
Learn now to avoid adulterants and how to judge herb quality
Deepen your understanding of plants and the common plant families they belong to such as Lily, Carrot, Mint and Bean.
Explore signature characteristics of these plant families and how they relate to the Chinese Materia Medica.
Find out about certification in horticulture to support the work of local farmers
We will have the hands on experience of planting seed flats that you will be able to take home with you!
