Intro to Trigger Point Needling Hands-On Practice

This review of myofascial trigger point (TrP) needling consists mainly of hands-on practice. Participants learn about the Chinese meridian system as a myofascial map, step-by-step palpation, tips on TrP needling and the recipe for success. The class includes demonstrations of palpation and TrP needling techniques followed by practice on each other.

In the palpation practice, you assess individual muscles and body regions for temperature, tissue qualities and active TrPs. At the end of this practice, you've gained palpation skills and well as an understanding of how different bodies and tissues feel, how it feels to be palpated and how to locate TrPs.

In the needling practice, you apply the technique and get direct feedback on your success. A contemplative atmosphere is maintained during practice times in order to help everyone work together consciously and best absorb the learning.

Lastly, grand rounds style treatments help you to understand TrP release in the context of the meridian system.

You leave class with a basic needling technique that you can use immediately in your treatment rooms. This introductory class prepares you for Trigger Point Needling classes Parts II and III.
