Acupuncture Facial and Body Enhancement with Dr. Ping Zhang, Ph.D., L.Ac., OMD, LMT

This course is designed to teach licensed acupuncturists and TCM practitioners the skills and techniques of acupuncture facial and body rejuvenation, incorporating specific needling techniques on the face and body as well as conjunctive therapies including acupressure, Gua Sha, traditional herbal medicine and cupping techniques.

Traditional Chinese Medicine has been used for body and facial enhancement for thousands of years. Following the wisdom and practice of the ancient Chinese sages, TCM face and body rejuvenation works in reducing the signs of aging by targeting and strengthening the underlying conditions and imbalances which contribute to pre-mature aging of the skin.

In this two-day intensive course, we will learn how to incorporate different combinations of acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, and acupressure for facial and body rejuvenation according to patients' specific conditions, guided by the appropriate principle and treatment strategy. Students will learn how to identify and target specific point channels which improve circulation of Qi and blood and stimulate the body's natural healing and anti-aging powers; thereby revitalizing not only the face and the health of the skin, but the body as a whole.

Upon completion of this seminar, participants will be able to:

  • Make differential assessments for facial concerns based on Zang-Fu organ patterns, Five Element Theory, Qi, blood and body fluid patterns
  • Understand contraindications of body and facial rejuvenation acupuncture
  • Recognize point combinations to target and treat the underlying causes contributing to the aging process
  • Properly perform channel and point combination protocols for needling, following all aspects of Clean Needle Technique
  • Incorporate TCM conjunctive therapies, including auricular acupuncture, Gua Sha, Cuppping and certain Qi Gong exercise for facial beauty enhancement
  • Counsel the patient on proper diet and exercise, and make appropriate herbal recommendations
  • Determine an appropriate treatment principle and strategy for both short- and long-term care

This seminar also provides practical needling experience, following all aspects of Clean Needle Technique protocol.
