We are coming down to the end game in our quest to include herbs in our NYS license. But your help in moving the bill out of committee right now  is essential.

Please call Assembly Member Glick today at her at the Albany office

Here is a suggested script:

“Hello this is  [your name] calling to ask Assembly Member Glick  to move Assembly Bill 03717-A, which relates to the practice of acupuncture, on to the agenda so that it can move out of the Higher Education Committee and onto the Assembly floor for a vote.

Thank you”

Give your name, address phone number, zip  etc….

If you are in her district let the staff know, but if you aren’t it doesn’t matter, in her role as Chairperson of the Higher Education Committee she works for all New Yorkers.

Thank you,

After several years of effort, the "Herbs Bill", developed by NYSAC and fully supported by ASNY, has reached a critical juncture and can now move forward. But your help in making this occur is essential.

We have recently achieved acceptance of our legislation’s language from the New York State Education Department. This acceptance was based on technical amendments made by Senator Suzi Oppenheimer, our Senate Sponsor. The Senate Bill, now S.5512A is ready to leave the Senate Higher Education Committee.

However, we now need to ask Assembly Member Grace Meng, the sponsor of A.03717, to revise the Assembly bill so that both bills are identical again.

Below, you will find 4 template letters. Please download them to your computer. Then take a few minutes to edit the 4 letters by adding your name and address to the bottom of them. Then print, add your signature and MAIL them. Two go to Grace Meng in both her district and Albany offices and two go to Richard Gottfried (a critical supporter of the Assembly Bill) in both his district and Albany offices. Then, make a copy of your letter to Richard Gottfried and send it to:

Ms. Monica Miller
Senior Legislative Associate
Office of the Honorable Richard N. Gottfried
New York State Assembly
LOB 822
Albany, NY 12248

Our Lobbyist tells us that we must mail hard copy letters rather than send an email. We know that this is a little more trouble, but we need these letters to go out this week as a matter of urgency.

Thank you!

Kevin Ergil (NYSAC), and the ASNY Board
